Classical Rendezvous

Our school has had a long relationship with SPIC MACAY. They have begun the work on Rendezvous Series -2. Under this, they held a special online screening of Bicycle Thief (Vitoria de Sica)an Italian film, with an expert speaking on the film, on  Friday 21st August 2020 from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. 96 students and 4 teachers had been a part of this wonderful film screening which left everyone with a heavy heart and contemplative mind. The movie displaying Italy, marred by the horrors of World War II ,dwindled with unemployment, political upheaval and poverty trickling down to the classes. The movie brilliantly portrays the follies of humans and the dire need to survive despite the tribulations, but is sometimes webbed into immoral and unethical practices.




MUSICAL SALVO

Akshaya Arun of classXIth and Aashna Arun of class VIIth,  participated in an online event  organised by Gandhi samriti & Darshan samiti on 8th August 2020.They sang songs on the theme of “Patriotism” as a tribute to the 75th Hiroshima Memorial Day (August 6,2020) and to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the historic Quit India Movement. 
It was a memorable and musical moment that marked their tribute.




ETHEREAL-WASTE MARVELS

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed”- M.K. Gandhi As the world climbs the superfast ladder of technological advancement , the environment suffers a great loss and ultimately the earthlings too pay the price. It therefore becomes rather imperative to not only conserve but encourage others to join hands in collectively saving our unique planet. With this noble thought Ethereal -WASTE WONDERS was organised as a part of ETHOS-2019 on 20th July. The event was furnished to invite conservation enthusiasts from different schools to showcase their creativity using waste materials. The event was graced and judged by Ms Shreya Arora, a journalist turned entrepreneur who specialises  in picking scrap market goods and polishing them to innovative decor pieces. “Ghanchakkar” is what her work is popularly known as. She interacted with the students and appreciated their efforts.   “Happy feet” the entry from Somerville school  bagged the trophy. The participants gave 40 minutes to each old sole which was transformed to a beautiful footwear; created out of waste & aimed to be donated to the needy. Kudos to the team members ......,,   The other entries saw various waste items being turned to pieces of decor and household use. The competition closed with message of reuse to the cause of sustainability.




CYBERNATE- DIGITAL AD MAKING COMPETITION

“Technology expands our ways of thinking about things and  of doing things.” HERBERT. A. SIMON Technology has soared the pinnacle of things and seems to span further. We should be abreast with the advancements and also churn the young minds to think the unthinkable and tinker with the smallest idea. With this aim, CYBERNATE Ad making competition was held in  EAST POINT SCHOOL on 20 July 2019   in which 7 schools participated . Digital AD was created  on the topic “Robotics technology”. Students presented their digital ads  using free source software. They created advertisements of their products  using images and recorded audio track. The competition was judged by Mr. Abhishek Srivastava who took interest in the students work and guided them. Students researched on varieties of product based on robotics technology like smart e-bin, chatbot, wearable medical gadgets etc. Each one had worked hard and put effort but the team that stood out was First prize : EAST POINT SCHOOL Second prize:         Baptist school & Mayur Public School        




SWANG- STREET PLAY

“Theatre is the art of looking at ourselves.”- AUGUSTO BOAL Theatre has garnered popularity for not only entertainment but also to voice the reality and mirroring the realities of life. With this objective, Swang- Street Play competition was organised on 19th July 2019 where the Lords of expression and acting skills gathered with immense enthusiasm. The participants from five schools presented street plays on the topic- मन्मर्ज़िया – The Vicious World of Consumerism, exposing the devil that is consumerism. The event was judged by famous theatre personality Ms. Nirupama Verma, who through her keen observation gave valuable inputs to the students and encouraged them to do even better. The students were not only able to give exemplary performance but also gave a strong message for all to ponder. SPECTRUM- Science Symposium.

“The science of today, is the technology of tomorrow”-EDWARD TELLER The world of today is exalted for not only discoveries and invention but also that one spark that question and lead one to that one eureka moment. Hence it is important not only to identify but also to tap the potential. In lieu of this an interschool competition SPECTRUM, was organized by East Point School on 19 and 20th of July, where various schools had participated in a number of events.  Spectrum  had two events, symposium and Devil’s Advocate-Mad Ad which was held on 20th of July between 9 and 11 am in the AV room. Five teams, each with 4 students from schools like Hillwoods Academy, Mayur Public, Somerville School, Evergreen School and East Point School had actively participated in both the events. They were accompanied by their teachers. Dr. Amitabh Sharma, Founder and CEO, STEM academy of USA, and Mr. Atul Chaturvedi were the Chief Guests and judges for the event. Two teachers from EPS also attended the session, namely, Priyanka Sharma and Deepak Sharma, accompanied with four volunteers from EPS. The purpose of the event was to articulate creativity and critical thinking ability. The chief guests addressed the gathering and motivated the students to bring creativity. ·         First Event was the Science Symposium, in which the students were to give PowerPoint Presentation on either one of the topic mentioned (for 5-7 minutes):  Antibiotic Abuse           OR Making plastics from petroleum-a boon or a menace It was then followed by an Open House. At the end of the event, a quiz covering both the topics was held. Hillwood’s got the first position and EPS second. ·         Second event was the Mad-Ad on Eco friendly products, where students had shown their creativity in building creative products and highlighting its applicability/ disadvantages, harmfulness and benefits. EPS got the first position, where the students had made edible spoons, forks and eco friendly bowls and plates. The judges appreciated their creativity and performance. RHETORIC- DEBATE COMPETITION

To express yourself  needs a reason, but expressing yourself is the reason”-AI WEIWEI We believe that each voice and opinion matters and so it becomes our duty to lay down a platform for the students to express the opinions and speak the unspoken. Putting this thought to practice , Rhetoric- Debate Competition was organised on 19th July as  a part of ETHOS 2019. The competition witnessed a tough spirited debating on the topic ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL SLOWLY DISINTEGRATE HUMANITY. There were five schools which had two contestants each who either stood for or against the motion. The competition was judged by Ms. Deepika Mago and Mr. Anup Sharma, who not only manoeuvred   the discussion but also gave valuable inputs for enhancing the content and to maintain the standard of debating. The participants had an active rebuttal round which gave a deeper insight and knowledge of the topic. Each one had researched and compiled data to enrich the content however one team stood out and was lauded for the praiseworthy performance. District level Music Competition

East Point School's Dept. of Music under the mentorship of Dept. Head Manoj Ahuja, has made the school proud by bagging several gold and silver medals at both State and District Level. Shubh Ahuja qualified for State Level to represent our School in Instrumental Music.




Model making competition " Ways to save the blue"

Ruhaan Khan and Basim Khan  of class V enthusiastically participated in an inter school Model making  competition organised at Vivekananda school . They shown their creative skills on the  topic  " Ways to save the blue planet ".Through their model they explained about benefits of usage of solar energy,wind energy and recycle.Children requested the audience to grow more and more plants and to stop using single use plastic .




Dragon flies

Dragonfly festival has been organised at WWF, Lodi Road from 8 th August to 31st August.
25 students from classes VI to VIII participated in the Dragon Fly festival organised at WWF, Lodi Road . Students watched a short movie and came to know about amazing world of Dragon flies through a presentation.
Students participated in the Poster making competition too on Dragon Flies on 13/8/2018 at WWF on the topic ‘ Habitat of Dragonfly ‘in Junior and Senior Category.
Aniket Pal of class VI  won Second Prize in Junior Category and Vansh Rautela of Class VIII won Consolation Prize in Senior Category.

दिनांक १७/७/१८ को क्षेत्रीय निबंध प्रतियोगिता में उपरोक्त छात्रों ने भाग लिया निबंध प्रतियोगिता हेतु वरिष्ठ वर्ग के लिए विषय था "पानी का महत्व " एवं कनिष्ठ वर्ग के लिए विषय था "मधुर वाणी का महत्व" छात्रों को विषयानुसार तैयारी करवाई गयी थी सभी ने अपने अपने शब्दों में निबंध लेखन किया !

Our school Students from IX-XII participated in DIGEX 2018, organized by Delhi Public School R.K Puramon 12 th May 2018. The students participated in photography based competitions. The competitionstested the student’s competency in photographic skills, creativity and other technical abilities. Theschool also organized workshops for students and teachers which exposed them to ways of clicking theright moment with the right equipment. Photography has come rather essential in the recent years andhence it becomes necessary how to do it correctly.

Gandhi Smriti

Students of East Point School were proud to get the opportunity of giving tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi who has always remained a symbol of virtues and greatness for people all over the world. The day of his assassination, January 30th is observed as Martyr’s Day. Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti organized a Prayer Meet on his 70th Martyrdom Day which was broadcasted live across India and 124 countries. Our team of 22 students were amongst the 19 schools selected from all over India to participate in the solemn event. They offered their musical homage to the Mahatma, by singing bhajans and songs written by Gadhiji himself. Akshat Mishra played the ‘Khartal’ for all the offerings of the day being a part of the core orchestral team. India being a secular nation, the event was ornamented by the prayers of different religions. To recognize the immense sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi, our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Vice President Mr. Venkaiya Naidu and the Ex. PM Dr. Manmohan Singh were present at the event. To add to the spiritual fervour of the evening, Padam Shree Mr. Anup Jalota sang some mesmerising bhajans. Matryr’s Day was truly a day of ambivalent emotions of honour and pride.




Pledge to Save the Earth!!!

Climate change is a real threat to our world and it becomes imperative to educate the young minds with ways to shield our Earth from this fatal reality. Keeping this thought in mind, Indian Meteorological Department and Indian Meteorological Society in collaboration with Earth watch Institute organised a quiz for students.  Lavanya Bhatt, Ramita Rajesh and Shipra Das from class IX participated in this quiz which focussed on Montreal Protocol and Climate Change and was held at Mausam Bhawan. Air Marshal Dr Tyagi mentored the programme and took immense interest in explaining to the audience that it is the need of hour to rise for the sake of saving environment and protect it from perils.
Students also had the chance to watch how instrument is released in Stratosphere through balloon to collect the reading to identify the presence of Ozone in Environment.
The quiz was thrilling and also forced all to put their thinking caps and think about Climate Change and its threat.




STROKE OF CREATIVITY

Our talented students participated in an Inter-School Art Competition organized by Archaeological Survey of India held at Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi on 21st November 2017. It was a momentous day and was made so by Saksham Baurai of class VIth who among 250 participants from 21 schools bagged the 2nd prize for his artistic finesse.

27 Students from Classes III to VIII Participated in School Level "WWF" Wild Wisdom Quiz was conducted on 30th Sep,17.A multiple choice questions based paper was send by the wwf for Junior -III to V.Middle- VI to VIII groups.
Ms Reena Dutta and Ms Purnima Singh checked the question paper respectively for their groups.
Four highest Scorers,two from each group are selected and participated in City Level Quiz.
750 Students from Delhi,Utrakhand,and Uttar Pradesh participated in Quiz.In preliminaryround question paper were given and five teams were selected in each group.
Though the students could not make for the next round but answered in audience round and one of them get the prize too.

The event was organised by 'Kid's for Tiger' under the guidance of Mr.Bitto Sehgal (Editor Sactuary Asia ) in Modern School. The programme included Short film,Rally and photography display,Poster Competition.Selected children of class VI, VII, VIII prepared posters with the theme Conserve Tigers out of which two posters were submitted  for the competition under Junior and Senior category.
our School Won 3rd Prize in Poster Competition under junior category prepared by Aditya Baweja of class VI_B.The aim of the event was to senselize the children towards the saving the tigers as they help in balancing the ecosystem and our national animal.Children enjoyed and program and took the pledge of spreading awareness in the school and neighbourhood.

It gave not only experience but also guided the students better.

Robotics Championship By Times Global Pvt.Ltd

Robotics Championship at Indira Gandhi international Stadium- IP State
9 Students participated at world Robotics championship with their robotic car under the "Junior Robotics " category.
Around 500 teams in different categories Junior and Senior Robotics, Robotic Race , Robo War,Soccer, Line Follower, water Rocket and drone Flying 
Participant Teams were from all over India and Abroad.
It was a very nice exposure and learning experience for the students. Students learned and observed the different type of robots, Their working capabilities and came to know about several new designs of robots.
